All-In-One Savoury Tart
Every cooks dream recipe; mix everything together in a bowl and bake to a delicious self-crusting tart. Perfect for a light supper or to take along to a social function such as Book Club, school or sport meetings.
Recipe Ingredients
- 10 slices SPAR bread (brown or white), crusts removed (or ½ loaf)
- 375 ml SPAR milk
- 4 large SPAR eggs
- 250 ml SPAR grated cheddar cheese (100 g)
- 45 cm dried wors length, snipped finely
- ½ can ratatoulle or SPAR Mild Chakalaka
- 5 ml salt
- 5 ml baking powder
Recipe Method
1. Preheat oven to 180 º C and lightly grease a shallow 25cm tart plate.
2. In a SPAR Good Living 1.5 litre porcelain mixing bowl, pour the milk over the bread and set aside for 5 minutes to soak until soft enough to mash. Stir in all the remaining ingredients.
3. Pour the mixture into the prepared pie dish and bake for 25 - 30 minutes until well risen and attractively browned.
Hints And Tips
Bake the bread crusts in a tray alongside the tart and leave in the oven even when turned off later - roll or process for the perfect breadcrumbs to store and use for mixing with grated cheese as a crunchy topping for a macaroni cheese dish.
